And now we are getting to Louisa and all the wonderful books in store for her. When I look at the curriculum lists for my girls, I am kind of in awe of all the learning they get to do! What a privilege to learn with real, living books and ENJOY learning all the while!

So, here are the plans for Year 6 - this is all thanks to Ambleside Online, with a few tweaks here and there specific to Louisa.

We will be reading the lives of Alexander and Demetrius.

Louisa will continue learning Spanish with myself and Kailyn, using La Clase Divertida.

Louisa will continue to work through and finish Getting Started with Latin and then will move on to Visual Latin 1.

Poetry

We will be reading George Herbert, Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson each day (one poet per term).

Music

We will be studying Rachmaninoff, Franz Haydn, and Robert Schumann over the year.

We will be learning and singing through one hymn each month of the year and working through our American Folk songs book.

We also need to add in some Spanish songs to compliment our Spanish language study.

Louisa will continue taking piano lessons.

Art

We will be studying Michelangelo, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and John William Waterhouse for our artists this year.

We will also continue working through Drawing Textbook by Bruce McIntyre.

Handicrafts

We plan to meet up once a month with our friends for a new handicraft each half of the year. The first half we will be learning embroidery! I'm excited about this one.

I think that's it, friends... it's a lot but it's going to be a GREAT year! I really enjoyed Year 6 when Kailyn went through it and now I am not quite so scared of it :)

Many, many thanks to all the wonderful ladies from amblesideonline.org for our curriculum list for Year 6!! I am so thankful for their hard work and for their generosity in compiling such a great curriculum for free.
