Charlotte Mason {in Church} #5

Disciples See Christ Walking on Water, Henry Osawa Tanner

I realized that I haven't posted lesson plans since the beginning of the Sunday school year, so I wanted to update for those who need help or ideas!

We continue to follow a simple structure to our Children's Church time each Sunday. Due to Covid, we are low on kids and teachers/helpers. It's been a struggle to keep it staffed, but we've felt it is still very important to continue teaching the kids and keep it as normal as possible for them, at church.

The routine we have each Sunday is:

*Prayer
*Missionary focus (new this year!)
*Bible lesson & narration
*Picture study & narration
*Memory verses
*Hymn sing
*Nature study painting or craft on holidays

As noted, I decided to add in a missionary focus at the suggestion of another teacher and I think the kids really love it. I drew a map of the world on some poster board and I've been printing out one picture of each of our missionaries (introducing a new one each month) and tape it onto the board. A simple explanation is given as to what the missionaries do, and where they live, and then we pray for them for the entire month. I also have the kids color a page that says "We prayed for you today!" and we have been mailing them out to the missionaries.

This is our second year of Children's Church ala Charlotte Mason, so we are reading through the books of Exodus and Mark (last year was Genesis and Matthew).

I've made a list for you, if you are looking for coordinating artwork to go along with your Bible lessons. I'm happy to help in any way if you need something else, just let me know! All of these art pictures are in the public domain and you can find them by doing a simple search.
